Security is of vital importance to any tour or roadshow and this can either be in the form of one security consultant or a security team. The security staff need to have an existence knowledge of health and safety
at indoor and outdoor events and must be able to implement plans regarding the safety of the band and crew by liasing with the tour management. local authorities and the police. This planning ensure the tour or roadshow is covered
with the maximum safety of all concerned.
Merchandising security is also an ever increasing growth area as music, sport, film and television personalities sell their official merchandise whilst touring or when making personal appearances. Unfortunately,
this also means that there is an increasing presence of merchandise that has not been authorised by the official merchandiser. This counterfeit merchandise is inferior and cheaper and can take many of the sales away from the original
goods.
We believe that it is important for security staff to be trained and experienced in this aspect of tour security and also to be able to liase with trading standards and the police thus allowing official merchandisers
and producers to act under the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 to prevent the sale of counterfeit merchandise.
